Plain Dealer: Company and Newspaper Guild Have a Tentative Agreement

If the contract is ratified:

  • The contract would be extended through 2019
  • The newsroom will lose roughly 60 positions
  • Layoffs will be halted until the agreement expires.
  • Content from Cleveland.com can be placed in the newspaper.

Newsroom employees received this email today:
“The bargaining committee today reached a tentative agreement with the company on a long-term contract extension. We’ll fill you in at 4 p.m. in the dining room room (sic) off the cafeteria. Also, we’ll have two informational meetings tomorrow, at noon and 4 p.m. Ratification vote will take place Tuesday.”
